Background

As commonly seen in most governments’ implementation of public projects, the execution is often found lacking and faces several obstacles that hinder its progress of impacting the people.

This is no different in Turks & Caicos Islands, where major projects’ implementation faces many delivery challenges and does not bring the desired end results.

Challenges faced include:

These obstacles can be resolved as evidenced by the establishment of delivery units in several countries such as the UK, Bahamas, St Lucia, Oman, Malaysia and many others.

Delivery units are an active partner to other units of Government that develop and monitor progress of project delivery while strengthening the capacity and capabilities of ministries, departments and agencies to implement key projects, initiatives and priorities.

Overview

A Priority Setting Workshop conducted on 22 July 2022 with the top leadership of the Turks and Caicos Island Government (TCIG) endorsed the establishment of the National Delivery Unit (NDU) to oversee and enhance the implementation of the priority projects that were identified in the Workshop.
